Quality Manufacturing
UDT connectors are manufactured to the highest industry standards to assure trouble-free installation and service to our customers. Following are highlights of our manufacturing quality programme.
- The properties of our high strength multi-start connectors will be equal or more than that of the pipe grade selected by the client.
- The Connectors are machined on state of art numerically controlled horizontal and vertical lathes. Each connector is inspected for dimensional accuracy and functionality.
- We have the capability to machine components up to 42 inches in diameter while maintaining tight tolerances.
- Critical dimensions of all connectors are verified by high precision gauges and measuring instrument like MRP gauges, 3D Scanner and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Each component receives a unique serial number and is traceable from raw material to finished goods.
- An alignment check is conducted prior to final welding of conductor on to pipe during welding onto pipe, which ensures that the alignment of the pin to the axis of the box is within 0.050 degrees.
- All connectors are phosphate coated to prevent corrosion and galling.
- The Connector designs and capabilities are supported by finite element analysis (FEA) conducted using both two and three dimensional techniques.
Material Quality and Durability
UDT-Leopard connectors are typically made from 70 ksi to 110 ksi and can be used for all types of applications based on customer requirement. Each heat of material is destructive tested to ensure that Physical properties of UDT Leopard Connectors are higher than that of the pipes.
ISO 13679:2019 Certification UDT connectors have met the rigorous standards of ISO 13679:2019, achieving CAL1 certification. This proves their exceptional reliability for casing, tubing, and liner connections under demanding conditions.
Mechanical and Pressure Testing The connectors underwent intense tensile and bending tests to confirm their strength and durability. They were also subjected to internal and external pressure tests to ensure a perfect seal against leaks.
Performance Under Extreme Conditions A bake-out test was conducted to simulate high-temperature downhole environments. This comprehensive testing guarantees the connectors’ integrity and performance across all operational extremes.
Connector Accessories
Anti Rotation Device (Shear Tools)
UDT Leopard connectors have integral 4 point anti rotation provision which can be engaged through anti rotation device (shear tool). The shear tool consists of chisel head with high hardness so that it can shear the box connector guide nose and insert it to the machined slot of the pin connector. Anti rotation devices are available for all sizes of UDT Leopard connectors. Anti rotation devices are available in both left hand and right hand configuration.
UDT O-Rings
UDT ensures a secure seal for its connectors by including additional O-rings with every set. This provision guarantees that clients have spare parts readily available for a reliable connection.
Thread Protectors
To safeguard threads from damage during transport, UDT provides high-quality PP or metal protectors. A 100% fitment test is conducted to ensure these protectors are properly secured before shipment.
Shear Tools
The UDT Leopard connectors feature an integrated 4-point anti-rotation mechanism. This unique feature can be activated using a dedicated anti-rotation device or shear tool.
